SNOW, SNOW, QUICK QUICK SNOW

Morning all,
My Brain is fried, I HATE WINTER!!!! For years I've struggled with this time of the year and this year more than ever as winter just goes on and on. I find it hard to go out of the front door and face the wind and the cold and just, well, everything.

So, what has nature given us now? Snow! I've  seen the news and watched how other countries have been looking on in amusement at the foot of snow we've had.

Ok, so this country does have its bad points and yeah, we do come across as being unorganized. But you have to understand that we don't get any form of extreme weather.
I posted a year or so ago some pics of my back garden in the snow. We had about two inches, nothing, just a few flurries which went in a day. That was it, just that.
In the summer it gets nice an warm and yeah humid, VERY humid (we're surrounded by water remember?), but that's it, it's warm, around 85 ish max, maybe 90 in extreme conditions and that's for around two weeks LOLOLOL

Us Brits have a complete mistrust of weather forecasts, as our weather changes so quickly. I'll never forget Michael Fish, our most famous weather forecaster saying that a woman had phoned from France to say a hurricane was on it's way. He said on live TV, 'Madam, we don't get hurricanes in the UK' don't panic its a few strong winds'
Well.......F*** me, I never slept a wink that night as half of the country suffered a hurricane with 200 year old oak trees coming crashing down, fronts of stores blown in etc. We lost our fence, BBQ, garden furniture and half the roof not to mention my ruby slippers. Thank God our houses are brick built and not timber.

So, as you can see, if they say we have a cold snap with severe snow coming in from Siberia. Out come our sunnies, shorts and flip flops as we think Fhack orf, i'ts gonna be lovely ;-)

HOW WRONG WE WERE! I've worked from home for the last two day as the foot of snow is now solid ice. As we live on a new development, no one owns the roads, so we can't get up the hill to get out into the world.

Am I bovvered? NO! As my Dad would say, 'it's colder than a witches tits out there'. Just how he knows how cold witches tits are I shall never know, but it used to makeme and my brother giggle when we were little.

So witches tits being cold means I can stay inside, and not have to go out in this rancid weather.

Mock us all you want world, this is one Brit that's staying inside. Roll on Spain, only a month to go.........

(While I type, my dear heart is on a mission, he thinks our house is 'filthy' as he put it. I beg to differ, but he's furiously pushing the dyson round and sucking up anything in his path. Oops, there's goes me Calvins!)

Have a good weekend everyone, and if any of you can explain what this Twitter thing is I have been begged to join, please enlighten me as it just seems like glorified email to me?

Love yas, PP xx

Not to mention my ruby slippers.

I am sorry for your winter misery, but you have me laughing at 5:30 am,a true LOL.

Yes, the UK does seem disorganized(and a bit tweedy) in a snow storm, but we'll forever let you slide because you brought us the Beatles & black pudding(I hate it, but know many who love it).

Well, Gaz, if it's any consolation, it's been in the low 30s here in Florida the last few mornings....half our plants are dead, too. The weather is WEIRD this year. I've been living down here 26 years and we've NEVER had a colder winter than this one. That said, the temps are going back to where they belong this weekend -- mid 70s. If it gets too cold for you, come to Florida -- we have a nice guest room waiting for you and Phil (oh, and your Dyson - bring that, will ya? LOL)

hugs,
:) Carol

When you figure out what this whole Twitter thing is about, could you share it with me....I just don't get it!

Who cares what the world thinks of us.
It'll be nowhere near as bad as what we think of them!
I like the snow. I have had 2 days off of work, what could be better.

Ah Dorothy, sorry about your ruby red slippers.

I'm with you, I don't like winter. We don't get much snow where I live, so we don't have the proper road clearing equipment. Every dozen or so years, we get a few inces of snow that brings us to a complete stand still.

I just stay inside and drink hot chocolate until all the snow melts away.

I don't understand Twitter at all. When you do, please explain it to me.

I didn't even know it had snowed until I woke up lol, but we are disorganised when it comes to extreme weather but were used to it.
I remember the hurrcaine I slept through that too...lol walked out in the morning to carnage.

Twitter is social networking site, whereby you update what your doing 24/7 if you want. although most of us in JLand are now on facebook which is the same thing but with games etc.

Well, I know MY tits are warm! I come from a part of the world that has snow before Christmas and it generally doesn't melt, just piles up until April. I DON'T think you guys are silly. You don't have snow tires on your vehicles and you don't own snow shovels, let alone snow blowers. You whinge on all you want!

Never done the Twitter, can't help. I can barely handle blogs and a message board! I signed up for Facebook, but never did anything there. Maybe I should go check it out again.
I hope your snow(ice) is fast disappearing and your world will be back to normal soon-ours will be here for another 2 months...that's right, mid-April!

Gaz, you're wonderful! Of COURSE we don't trust weather forecasts. It's a national pastime, right up there alongside cricket. The latest from Lords and the state of the weather - what else is there to talk about?

After a few years of mild winters I think we've got out of the way of coping with the white stuff and the freezing cold. I'm sure we used to cope a bit better than this though.

Hey WE'VE had hurricanes, WE'VE had earthquakes, let's just hope the collective sniggering from snowier places doesn't start a tsunami. I reckon if one of them came ashore at Cleethorpes, it would flatten Manchester in minutes!

love, Angie, xx

Come over to the USA and come to Northern New York and stay with us, so far we have 187 inches of snow and it has only gotten down to 29 below zero, January we only had 23 days of below zero weather, Right now it is sunny and warmed up to 30 degrees, I will probably pull my shorts and t shirts out when it hts 50!!! Take care, Hopefully spring is not too far away!!!

Better late than never...:)

I am sure the snow has melted and things are back to normal there for you. :)

We don't listen much to the weathermen here in Nebraska either. Our weather changes so frequently that if you don't like it wait an hour. :)

Hi Gaz,
I'm with you regarding Winter. I hate it, too. That's one of the reasons I moved out West. As for Twitter, I joined it a while back but found it to be too much hassle. Between Facebook and the Blog, it's hard to imagine finding time to post Twitter updates all day regarding what I'm doing ...
Best,
Marty

Wow I haven't heard that ole saw in ages! And never thought how anyone would know the temp of a witch's tit, no less why they'd want to lol. Well yer not alone my friend, global odd weather is rampant and this is just the start. Our mean temp has risen 2 whole degrees and that may seem small but the consequences are not. The Arctic glacial sheets are melting, breaking off into pieces, helping the polar bear on his way to extinction - not to mention the rise in sea levels almost everywhere. No small thing this warming up of earth. It'll bring on an early "mini" Ice Age but of course, since we'll be long gone by then should it matter now? Well we can't reverse it, this isn't a question of "if" but "when". All we can do is soldier on thru the oddities in our weather and try not to make things worse. This planet has a natural time table of warming and freezing (the Sahara used to be tropical and the Bahamas were once frozen) but when men interfere as they have, need I tell you we get what we asked for with burning tons of greenhouse gases, CO2, eternal plastic fumes burning up into the atmosphere, loss of ozone protection, it sounds like hell itself I know but Gaz let's face it, once we switched from farming to industry c.150 yrs ago, man started a future catastrophe. Whew.
